This book presents José Guimarães’ work, Portuguese plastic artist, born in 1939, whom after 1980 internationalized his work, with exhibitions in Brazil, Angola, Switzerland, Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, United States of America, China, Japan, South Korea. In this book, the author analyses the defense of peoples’ encounter e culture globalization, which, like Camões, José Guimarães uplifts and questions the History of the Discoveries. By acknowledgement presented in this book, such defense happens beyond 1971, during the same period when José Guimarães discovers the mask and the African fetish, and develops his alphabet of signs inspired in the Ngoio tribe of Cabinda.
